Wow. Although I hardly left the house in the last two days I feel like I have been on a fabulous journey. Yesterday I spent hours exploring the blogs of those who had liked my recent posts. What a wonderful virtual world out there (or in here?). I have also finished my design for my first tattoo. It has taken a long time to come up with all of the components, but I think it is ready. I hope you enjoy this excursion, too.

Technicolor weekend

My son was in the pit orchestra and many friends were on the stage for the first weekend of performances of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat. They all did a fantastic job. Mike and I were ushers on Friday night and today I went to see it with my mom. So much hard work – such a great reward.

Compost and roses

Today was such a great art day. I had the lovely roses from my friend from the Dharma lesson on Tuesday and lots of time and materials. I so enjoy having the time to play with different media to see which one works best for my gratitude metaphor for any given day. Today I had such an abundance of materials that represent so many things I am grateful for in my life. I particularly enjoy the juxtaposition of the newsletter from my CSA vegetable share, called the Com Post, and the laser printed copy of the roses. In all of our lives the compost makes the flowers bloom. Sometimes I really have to look to see the flower through the decomposing pile of corn silk, eggshells, and coffee grounds. Yesterday I could only see anxiety for much of the day. Today was full of literal and metaphorical flowers.

Cobbled together

This week I have felt pulled in a lot of directions. These pages demonstrate my efforts to keep my self and my family together in the face of challenges. I have had a wonderful outpouring of love from friends and family that I too often find myself appreciating in retrospect. I will set my intention to notice this love and friendship in each moment and reciprocate. I also want to be sure to stop and smell the roses that are blooming so profusely.

I have been so busy that I have gotten behind in posting my gratitude journal entries. Not that I haven’t had so much to be grateful for the last 4 days, I have! Wait until you see the bounty of my life this week. I’m really getting excited to get my craft room in order. And can I just say I LOVE Zentangles! (sorry for shouting). Here is my gratitude collage for today. I’m still/always experimenting with materials and the labels didn’t stick on the gesso and paint quite like I had hoped. I may end up putting a coat of Mod Podge on the whole right page. I wanted the effect of layers and the shadows they cast on the left side. I’m not sure if this photo captures that very well. Happy Saturday.
