I feel like the blog and the workshops are really inspiring me as an artist. I’m exploring media and really finding joy in the process and in the products. I particularly like this homage to V. Kandinski’s 13 rectangles. Mine was made with different kinds of tape with a base of tissue paper and Mod Podge that I actually did during the workshop on Saturday. The facing page is another experiment in artistic journaling that allowed the illustration of the book remain intact.

 

 

I love how the washable markers spread on the pattern paper in this collage. I really like the Simplicity papers for so many reasons and my experiment of using it as tracing paper worked out even better than I had hoped.

The picture below shows just how flexible duck tape can be. One of my students gave me the leopard sheet of adhesive and it inspired this stencil safari. Note to self: The tape is a lot harder to cut than the sheets.

Beginning of Book Two

This book is my second gratitude journal. I love this page spread because it features so many aspects of my exploration of art and altered art book. The right hand page includes some the materials that I made as part of getting ready to teach the Mommy and Me art class. It is so simple, but so rewarding!

The left hand page was completed over the course of a few days. It started as one of my table protector pages and I liked the way the ink had soaked into this page. I started to doodle and each day I added some Zentangles or more color until it felt done. I like the way these two pages balance each other.

I am starting my second gratitude journal. I am so grateful for this form of self-expression. It has really helped me get back into creating art everyday. The process itself brings me joy and I’m so excited about all that I am learning, too.

I love fall. The colors of the leaves and rich scent in the air. I feel like I could walk for miles.

Yesterday’s pages were started in the Gratitude Workshop that I taught. We discussed the basics of altered art journals – pens and paper. Here are two papers that have created a beautiful image of my son. The artwork from the book page that shows behind the cut profile photograph provides such a complimentary backdrop. I am so grateful for him and his music.

The End of Book the First

The Grateful dad entry is my husband sitting in the middle of a botanical labyrinth photo that I am using for the flyers for my upcoming gratitude workshops.

Here I have entries for the first day the kiddos were back to school, fun with contemplative photography and photocopies, and tomatoes and a tattoo.

Here are two variations of my meditation collage based on my “You are worthy of love and belonging” Zentangle Inspired Art. The Incredibles logo artwork was done by my son as a school art project. He did not want to keep it, but I love including his work in my collages.

Travel and leisure

I have so much to be grateful for! Here are the last days of our trip to Nashville and the return trip. I love to play with the fun new photos after a trip almost as much as I love to travel.

I also have some entries from the Labor day weekend. Reading is one of my favorite leisure activities, and this one is a fabulous book. I enjoyed some leisure time with my mom, my sister, and my son.

I have completed another mediation collage and this is a color copy of part of it. I will post the new collage this week, too.
