I missed Earth Day, but it is close to the 3 year anniversary of the move of my gratitude journals into altered books. I enjoyed looking at them again as I got them ready to put in boxes. They seem like an appropriate homage to Earth Day, even if it is a little late.
This is a beautiful idea and you’ve made amazing artwork here! Are they mostly kids books? I always pass those carts at the library where they’re selling books for a couple of bucks a bag. Maybe I should partake next time! You’re inspiring me!
Thank you. It really is a mix of books. Now I’m working in a 6×6 cookbook that is nice and small as I’m in the process of moving. The one I had been working in for all of 2015 and the beginning of 2016 was a gorgeous photography book from the 1970’s. I also enjoy using good hardcover fiction books. I like the paper in them and it is fun to play with words that jump out of the page to me. I like to use 8 x 10 picture books in the summer and/or when I’m traveling as I can put papers inside to protect them until I use them and they frequently have gorgeous pictures that inspire me. I’m so happy to provide inspiration back to you!
