Gratitude pages beginnings

Gratitude has been an important part of my life for a long time. When my boys were little as part of the getting ready for bed routine we would all sprawl in the hallway upstairs or in one of their bedrooms and each list 3 things from that day that we were grateful for. As with many things it became routine and then was outgrown. My boys are now young men and I continue to note things that I am grateful for each day. I started my altered art journal as a gratitude journal in May of 2013. Here are some of those early pages that were made before I began blogging about my journal. A few of my friends who don’t live nearby wanted to keep up with my journal and encouraged me to start this blog so they could see what I was up to. I did not know what I was doing and was mystified that people I had never heard of were “liking” my posts. Now my journal and my blog are things that I am grateful for as well as all the new friends I have made in this endeavor. Thank you for sharing some of your lifetime with me. Peace.

  1. This is such a lovely idea! Your gratitude books are beautiful.

    • Thank you for your kind words. The gratitude journals have become an important part of my life and who I am as an artist. This blog has really been exciting and I have seen such inspiring work in so many mediums. I really enjoy your combinations of photos and poetry, such as your recent “Feast” post. Did you take the photo of the violet in the dewy grass? It is beautiful.

      • I did take the photo! What a lovely morning it was. Taking photos is such a joy- like your gratitude books photography inspires me and helps me see. I hope we can stay in touch. 🙂
