I have had quite a few medical appointments in New York City in the last month or so and I have some photos to share in a Which Way post for Cee’s challenge.

bridge

This was an early morning appointment and looking back at the George Washington bridge and the towers of housing in New Jersey. The sun on these 2 buildings was really lovely in the early morning.

Which way central park

This was a different appointment. It was after one of the many Nor’easter storms we have been having. Central Park in the snow was magical.

I hope you have a beautiful day.

Here are my doors from Narragansett. They are to share in Norm 2.0’s Thursday Doors Challenge.

These are the doors to the towers. The first picture is the entry to the visitor’s center for the town.

Narragansett door

Most of the houses in Narragansett range from multi-million dollar mansions to little bungalows that look like they’ve been here for a while. This old house  was about a block from the Crazy Burger Restaurant and I really loved it. The house was abandoned a while ago and this has to be some valuable real estate and here was an overgrown mystery.

Our hotel in Narragansett was right across from the beach. I’m almost reluctant to share, because it was such a wonderful little gem. But here it is.

Here is the path to the beach.

I got the beach in a few different kinds of light. I was looking forward to our sunrises, but they were so foggy and dark and not photogenic. It was lovely in the evening.

I love the variation in textures and colors. This was the view from our bed. Not too much traffic this time of year, so it was lovely.

The path to the beach and this bridge to Newport are my entries to Cee’s Which Way Challenge. The fog was present more of the day than I expected. I’m learning the ways of the Atlantic Ocean. It has been beautiful where ever we have seen it.

I hope you have a beautiful day.

Here is the inspiring location for the 27th Certified Zentangle® Teacher training seminar that I attended last week. Tomorrow I plan to have a Thursday Doors post and a post all about the wonderful seminar and the art I created while there. In the meantime, here is the class photo.

Image may contain: one or more people, people sitting, people standing and indoor

You can also see the gorgeous ballroom at the Providence Biltmore. I have quite a few photos of the hotel, our views from the hotel, and the neighborhoods near the hotel. It really is a lovely city.

These are the views from my lovely suite that I shared with an artist named Donna from Montana and some of the views are from the hotel’s banquet dining room. We had some lovely foggy/raining days that were perfect for arting inside.

Here are some views from the inside of the hotel. I thought about saving the letter box “door” for a solo spot on the Thursday Doors post, but I have too many interesting doors that I collected on this trip! So I will share a few today and the rest tomorrow. There may be some redundancy in the posts, but when interesting architecture is the subject can a view be seen too many times?

I love the “wicked awesome” light fixture at the bottom of the mosaic. Also, you can see some public art that is painted on the fences around the plaza. It was really hard to photograph, but so cool to see as you walked past it! There are gondolieri, bridges, and tulips adorning the river. This is going to serve as another Which Way Challenge post for Cee. At the corner of Benefit and Benevolent Streets is the Unitarian Church with it’s beautiful magnolia tree. The very first Baptist church in this country is also featured above. That is all for today. I’m still pretty worn out from a very full week, last week.

I hope you have a beautiful day.

Cee’s Which Way Challenge: Gillette Castle, CT

On my way to the Certified Zentangle® Teacher seminar I took a little side trip with my husband. We went to the Hilltop BBQ in Moodus CT to hear a band called Someone You Can Xray on Saturday evening. Mike had met them camping last year and they were fantastic! They recommended that we check out Gillette Castle before leaving the area so on Sunday morning we did. What a place! On the way to the castle we saw this sign.

Gillette castle ped crossing grafitti

I really love this graffiti and it made me think of Cee’s Which Way Challenge. “This challenge is all about capturing the roads, walks, trails, rails, steps, signs, etc. we move from one place to another on. ” This side trip provided an interesting variety of a few of those!

The castle has the main building, a shelter called “grand central station” and up the road a little bit there is a pond with a lovely bridge. The castle is more strange than beautiful, but it is so very interesting.

The ladder to the roof mystified us. I’m certainly never going up there! The stone awnings for the windows were another interesting touch. We wondered if people climbed this castle with or without permission. These views of the castle also include the highly inconvenient and interesting vegetable cellar. I have reserved a few photos for my Thursday’s Doors post.

Here is the structure that was called “Grand Central Station.” I love the cat sculpture on top of the ramparts. The views of the Connecticut River are quite lovely.

There was a young couple having photographs taken on the bridge and around the pond and a few families enjoying this lovely setting. You can have a wedding ceremony at the park, but no receptions are allowed. I would imagine it is a popular place for all kinds of photography sessions!

This place really had a lovely selection of paths and stairs and ways to go from one place to another. I hope you enjoyed my tour of this odd gem. For more photographs of wanderings check out Cee’s Which Way Challenge.

This morning we had such a lovely snow. I had the time and energy to walk to the Patriot’s Path, and I’m so glad I did!

Here is the view up the street where I walk.

This part of the street is a bridge over the Whippany River. Here are a few views of the river.

I turned off my music and just enjoyed the walk through Speedwell Park. The other end of the this section of the Patriot’s Path has a dam and a lovely bridge.

Places like this always make me think of Cee’s Which Way Challenge!

The views up and down the river were so lovely. This will help you enjoy a little bit of fall color no matter where you live.

And because I’m using this for a “Which Way” challenge I will throw in a photo I took on Route 1 in Maine. For a lot of the drive we just took in all the beauty while listening to an audio-book. Our idea of a fun vacation!
