Diva Challenge 316

The Diva challenged us to use stripes as our string. Usually I kind of do stripes, but they are all circles. It was interesting to do some straight ones. I love the tangle pattern Punzel and started with that. I tried to alternate straight lines with curves and added a little drama here and there.

Diva Challenge 315 and another Mother’s Day Card

The Diva challenged us to use Molygon, which is a tangle I don’t really love. I have been wanting to try Drawings and I thought they would go together, but then it got too busy after I added some Fescue, Msst, and Well. I wasn’t happy with how this tile turned out, but I liked Drawings and Molygon together enough to put them on my mother’s day card for my mother. I tried to keep the Molygons larger and that seemed to help.

Mail Art Completed & Mandala 19 0f 100

Yesterday I posted about the beginning of this mail art batch and I finished 2 post cards today. The one on the left is also for the Diva Zentangle Challenge. The tangle that I used for the background is called Keeko.

Here is another step in the process:

I find drawing different sized circles in my mandalas to be very soothing. I have been working on this one for quite a while because I had a hard time coloring around all the little circles. I’m looking forward to coloring it. If you want to color some of my other mandalas they are available as digital downloads from Etsy.

Zen Tangled Mandala

The Diva’s Zentangle challenge for this week is “Relax, bro.” That was just what I needed today after a quick trip to Michigan to see my son and my husband’s parents. We got back late last night and after cleaning and unpacking it was time for some artful meditation. Drawing circles is one of my favorite meditations. I listen to Ohm chanting on YouTube and breathe and draw.

Unfortunately after all those little circles my eyes were not feeling particularly happy so I made a copy on regular paper that was 200% bigger and colored it in leisurely. I think it turned out as fun as it was to create!

Illuminated Storage & Running Round in Circles

This is getting close to the design I want for my shower curtain! I’m going to make some collage, mandala design and color palate changes, but I’m getting close! We got 2 more relocation cubes of stuff and our little house is bursting at the seams. The good news is that we have all of the parts of our bed together, I found my kitchen knives and pot covers and I found my PAINTBRUSHES!

Here is how the storage box is looking so far. Do you think I should copy the top 2″ of the labyrinth side onto the cover? I’m going to store bed linens/hats etc. in it and have it in a stack of similar boxes in the corner of the living room. I’ll post photos when I’m done. I’ve been watching Small Space Big Style on HGTV when I need to take a rest to keep me motivated and inspired.

Oh, I looked at what the Diva challenge was for this week and it was to use circles and the  title was “Running Round in Circles” which really seemed fitting for my art and my life right now!

Dream Wheel and Diva Challenge

Here we have the journal pages that are leftovers from my dream wheel collage and a Zentangle tile all on top of my latest morning pages. It has taken me a few days to complete my Dream Wheel. It is for the online retreat I am doing with Kathryn Costa from 100 Mandalas. It is my vision board for what I consciously and unconsciously want in 2016. The 3 goals that I went into the project thinking about were to look at moving as an opportunity no matter where we end up. My husband is currently looking for work all over the country and as part of saying No to fear and worries in 2016 I’m looking at this as an opportunity for an adventure with my sweetie. The second goal is to transform the mess that is our storage room

into my own sanctuary for creating art. The third goal is to continue to challenge myself in making art that is meditative and beautiful for me and explore some more commercially viable avenue of art, such as Etsy. My second set of coloring pages is almost done!

In the upper right hand corner of my journal page I have a Zentangle tile. I participated in the Diva Challenge for the first time in 2016, and really for the first time in a while. I stopped doing it when my vision challenges got to be too much and it was fun to just tangle on a tile with no other purpose except to make art as part of a community of artists! One of our nicknames for this big guy is the supervisor.

Here is my finished Dream Wheel! Surrounded by the beauty of flowers, here I am working, and meditating, practicing art and yoga, in a tidy studio with excellent storage options. This year I will go through a door with my cats, husband, and camera, full of creativity and friendship, all as part of the adventure. Opportunity is the word that kept coming to mind as I was finally putting this collage together. I have been gathering the pictures for quite a few days and I’m glad I didn’t stop the gathering too early! What a rewarding process and I hope that it continues to inspire me all year long!
