I have had more doctor’s appointments in NYC and found another wonderful door to share with you. I’m not sure exactly where this was, but it’s not far from the Public Library.

Thanks Norm 2.0 for giving me something to look forward to when going to the doctor and for so many beautiful door photos.

“The Met Cloisters, located on four acres overlooking the Hudson River in northern Manhattan’s Fort Tryon Park, is the branch of the Museum dedicated to the art, architecture, and gardens of medieval Europe. Deriving its name from the medieval cloisters that form the core of the building, it presents a harmonious and evocative setting for more than 2,000 exceptional artworks and architectural elements from the medieval West.”

Basically, it is a museum of doors and windows and columns and such. And right now there is a special exhibit called “Heavenly Bodies: Fashion and the Catholic Imagination.” I will do a post on those as well. If you want to see more interesting door photos check out Norm 2.0.

I have had quite a few medical appointments in New York City in the last month or so and I have some photos to share in a Which Way post for Cee’s challenge.

bridge

This was an early morning appointment and looking back at the George Washington bridge and the towers of housing in New Jersey. The sun on these 2 buildings was really lovely in the early morning.

Which way central park

This was a different appointment. It was after one of the many Nor’easter storms we have been having. Central Park in the snow was magical.

This week I had appointments in NYC and in Hoboken, NJ. We got to the appointment in Hoboken really early. It is almost impossible to predict how long it will take to get to these appointments. Hoboken is the last stop before NYC and the traffic is quite impressive. The first time we came it took us an hour to go the last 4 miles. So we go early and have time to find interesting doors.

These are not traditional doors, but the view was spectacular. This is outside of River View park.

The view over a little bit of New Jersey and the Manhattan skyline was lovely in the fresh snow.

I had an MRI in NYC on Tuesday evening and found a lovely door on the way from the radiology office to Chopt, where I can put together a meal I can safely eat. I don’t really know anything about this door other than that it is beautiful. I’m pretty sure it was on 73rd Street.

Living close to New York City has many advantages. One of them is the proximity of world class medical care. Tuesday I met with the doctor who is going to do my surgery for endometriosis. I’m so grateful to have found her and I am feeling really hopeful. She wants me to do a lot to get ready for surgery including figuring out what dietary changes I need to make to improve my bladder and bowel problems, physical therapy to calm the muscle spasms throughout my abdomen, and a few more tests to make sure we know what all we are dealing with. I know this says Thursday Doors and if you are new to my blog you are probably wondering when I’m going to get to the door! This was on the way from the parking garage to her office. We are hoping to enjoy a little bit of the city around the appointments, but mostly I’m in too much pain and exhausted. So I’ll just have to keep my eyes open for gems like this one!

And a few windows.

Yesterday my husband and I took the train into NYC and walked from Penn Station up 5th Ave. to the Museum of Modern Art. Here are some signs of the season we found along the way.

Saks Fifth Ave and Lord & Taylor had the best displays on our stretch of the avenue.

saks-fifth-aveLooking to Saks from Rockefeller Center was pretty awesome. Having the angles heralding the season and framing the castle on the store was fantastic. The animatronic geese at Lord and Taylor were so fun, too. The geese and the Lego windows were our favorites.

And there were lovely doors that were beautiful and interesting just as they are.
