Here are my 2 blue jays that I made for Draw a Bird Day.
I’m planning to use one of them for my Christmas Card, but I can’t decide which I like better. Please let me know which one you prefer and help me select my centerpiece for my Christmas card. I love how my painted blue jay paper turned out.
I have been working on building up my painted paper stash because I want to get into more painted paper collages. This texture and color combination screamed blue jay to me. I grabbed an awesome reference photo from Kathy at backyard bird nerd and I was off! Laura at create art every day is taking a break from blogging, but I wanted to keep in practice for Draw a Bird Day.
Amazing. They are both so good. If I was pressed to choose, I would pick the first. I think I like the tail detail and the extra black around the face. 🙂
Thank you again for your reference photo. I have such a hard time selecting one. I have tried a few others with less success. I think the key was the blue jay paper – it really exceeded my expectations. I have to say I’m jealous of your back yard. How long have you been building up this bird sanctuary?
I have been adding a little here and there over the past several years. They really aren’t all that high maintenance…fresh water, good food, and some places to seek cover. It has been a joy to have them. 🙂
I don’t know why but the top one ‘speaks’ to me immediately. Both lovely though.
Thank you, Michael. Based on the lovely feedback I feel like I could use either one, or make a third now that I have some practice, or just pick one and get on with the rest of the card. I’ll probably just pick one and be happy with my little blue bird!
I like the detail on the first one’s tail.
Thank you. I thought the tail got a little fussy, but I preferred the face of this one. Maybe I should make a third one? Thanks for your kind words.
I like the bottom one. If I have to choose! I think it looks more friendly.
I thought so too! I’m thinking friendly might be what I’m going for. The top one has better colors and I like how the pen work turned out. Maybe I’ll come up with a new design that includes both of them. Something to think about.
They are both gorgeous Jeanette.
